Film Making and Video Editing

Our Filmmaking and Video Editing programs will be presented by Mohua Thakurta.  “Mo”, as she is called, is an accomplished industry professional with many years as an instructor in filmmaking and video editing.  Designed for ages 10 and up, program attendees will discover film making and will work primarily with DSLR cameras and explore film making with iOS devices and software.  Editing will be accomplished using Adobe Premier and Final Cut ProX.

Students who attend our 6 week course will follow the curriculum listed below:

Cost, Date and Age Groups

Film Making:  February 3rd ages 11-18 and Cost is $450.00

Film Making:  March 17th Adults and Cost is $450.00

Video Editing:  February 3rd ages 13+ Cost is $275.00

Video Editing March 17th ages 13+ cost is $275.00

Transportation and Parking

Parking is available on the street or in a parking garage nearby.  Decatur Marta station is less than 1/2 block from the building.

Film Making Fundamentals 101:

Our Film Making Fundamentals class is from 10 am to 2 pm on Saturdays.  January 13th class start date is students ages 11-18 with our adults course starting on March 3rd.

Week 1: Intro To Indie Filmmaking, Analysis of a Script and Idea Building.

Week 2: Storyboarding, DSLR Basics and Intro To Effective Camera Settings.

Week 3: Elements of Shot Composition, Location Scouting and Filming Effectively.

Week 4: Making Your Film.

Week 5: Final Shots and Intro To Editing for Engagement.

Week 6: Final Edits, Finishing Your Film and Exploring Distribution.

Video Editing 101

Our Video Editing class is from 2:30pm to 4:30pm on Saturdays.  January 13th class start date is students ages 11-18 with our adults course starting on March 3rd.

Week 1: Media management basics and initial project setup.

Week 2: Clip manipulation and editing to establish a story.

Week 3: Adding Music and editing to a track. Visual Effects and Transitions.

Week 4: Titles and Lower Thirds. Introducing Color Correction.

Week 5: Final Editing Tips and Tricks. Finishing

Week 6: Understanding File Formats, Exporting Final Projects and Q&A.
